Hearing voices? Don't check yourself into the mental institution
just yet. You just might be hearing communications from The Other Side.
EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) by definition, is any unexplainable voice or
sound captured on tape, digital recorder, or computer audio program. It is also
one of the easiest of all paranormal phenomenon to experiment with since the
only equipment you need is a good recorder or computer audio program and a quiet
spot to record. No reason to trek out to your local haunted house or graveyard--
you can record EVP in your own home. Just hit record, ask a couple of questions
and leave a few seconds of silence in between for any answers you might receive.
As the old infomercial says, even your grandmother could do it (Although we
would not recommend just anyone's grandmother doing this, unless you've got one
of those really cool grandmothers who won't think you are insane).
In this section of Hauntster, you can read an
interview with Tom and Lisa Butler, directors of the AAEVP, find advice and
opinions on EVP from paranormal investigators, and hear some of our own EVP
examples (coming soon). You'll also get a sneak peek into one of the most
elusive and controversial forms of EVP -- E-mail from the Dead.
